Proving Compentecy in Applying Pythagorean Theorem Principles

Home Nugget #17
Assigned on Wednesday December 5, 2007
Due on Thursday December 6, 2007

Students completed 60% of quiz #2 of the 2nd term in class today. This first component was comprised entirely of multiple-choice questions for which students had to provide indisputable evidence of their solution process. (An unconventional practice on multiple-choice exams but a necessary requirement in a classroom where one's thought process is esteemed more than one's solution)

The remaining 40% of the quiz will be completed at home by the student. There are four questions worth 10 points apiece and all questions are open-response, meaning the students must be the originator of the solution and its accompanying justification.

Students are reminded that the focus is on presenting thoughts, ideas and solutions in a clear and easily understood format.
