Students requested that the questions from today's class be posted on this blog. The five questions that follow are to be answered in your journals under the title "1st Journal Entry of the 3rd Term."
After reading the introduction to the textbook Looking For Pythagoras
a. What on earth do you think the Pythagorean Theorem might be?
b. What do you suppose irrational numbers are? What kinds of numbers exist besides whole numbers and fractions?
After looking at the map of Washington, D. C and discussing how to interpret the map:
c. How do you get from the Lincoln Memorial to the White House?
d. Why might some streets be diagonal as opposed to vertical and horizontal?
e. How can there be more than one 1st, 2nd, 3rd street on the map? How can you tell them apart?
