Predictions Based on Patterns

This weekend's home nugget is the second "letter to an absent classmate" assignment. Students should use this lesson to reflect on the topics presented in class today.

Home Nugget #25
Assigned on Friday October 13, 2006
Due Monday October 16, 2006

Write a letter to a fellow student who was absent today and missed the lesson we covered. Your goal is to use the class notes you took today to communicate as much information to them as possible, including all of the new terms we explored and all problems we solved or talked about.

Do not be stingy or half-hearted in your writing! Think about how you feel when you are absent and wish you had a way to figure out what took place while you were gone. Your letter should resemble a mini math lesson and will help you to think further about the material we are trying to understand. Read the letter aloud to yourself to be sure it makes sense.

Focus Correction Areas (FCAs)
2 points: your work is in the form of a letter and is at least two pages long, if not longer.
1 point: you include specific examples of new vocabulary terms and what they mean.
1 point: you include several specific math examples that will help the student understand the material that was discussed.
