Students were given a handout today that reinforces the criteria for all home nuggets and classworks they hand in. It may be useful for families to sit down and discuss why these criteria are important and how they ultimately benefit students.
Students worked on four major problems today, only one of which was linear, and had lots of discussion around patterns and predictions. The major skills they are focused on are creating tables and graphs of data and making good predictions based on trends they see in the data.
Tonight marks the first home nugget taken from the math textbook Moving Straight Ahead and students are reminded to pay close attention to the Focus Correction Areas. This curriculum is literacy based and students are asked to write strong, coherent answers and explanations for the work they do. This is in some part, in preparation for their MCAS, which require evidence of student logic and thinking.
