Given the results of Test #1, this week's classes are dedicated not to reviewing the content covered in Say it with Symbols but rather strengthening fundamental skills that prevent students from solving problems with accuracy and consistency. Our primary source for problems will be an additional practice manual that matches our curriculum. Students will primarily work in groups of four to share strategies and best practices for dealing with concepts that ultimately all relate to dealing with symbolic notation.
Our MCAS focus will be on the idea of transformations in Geometry. Students will eventually grasp the notion that we can manipulate geometric objects in a variety of ways, thereby altering their position and often orientation.
A great link for exploring this concept can be found at NLVM under the topics of:
- translations
- reflections
- dilations
- rotations
