Using a Comination of the Graphing Calculator and Our Knowledge of Solving Basic Equations to Figure out Linear Relationships

This weekend's home nugget addresses two needs:

Part One gives student the chance to prepare for an assessment early next week on Order of Operations and Solving One and Two Step Equations. They are also advised to retry related problems from their previous home nuggets. Simply "looking over" older assignments will NOT be effective. You must actually resolve and retry problems if you are to master a skill set.

Part Two is an exploration of linear relationships and the student's ability to make sense of equations and the messages they contain. The problems are likely to be challenging but the FCAs are not designed to penalize wrong answers. Therefore the expectation is that ALL problems will be attempted and completed in some fashion.

As always, make an effort to demonstrate that you spent considerable time on these lessons, as your investment will pay off if it is genuine and sincere.

Home Nugget #25
Assigned on Friday October 12, 2007
Due on Monday October 15, 2007

Part One:
Practice Sheet labelled Practice for 3-1 problems 33-50
Other side of sheet ALL problems

Part Two:
In Moving Straight Ahead,
Read pages 53-55 then solve problems on:
Page 60 #9 a - c and #10 a - e
Page 61 # 11 a, b and #13 a - d

Please recall that the links included on the blog's main page have practice activities for order of operations and solving equations as well. They are a great resource to make use of.
