Setting Up the Math Binder and How to Create Home Nugget Lessons

As the post title explains, we are still commited to establishing strong routines for the class. The ideal is for us to have finished this exploration of protocols and procedures by Wednesday.

Students will have received their first book, Moving Straight Ahead and have their first purely math-related home work assignment tonight. (Posted below)

I have also included links to two documents provided to students today; one describing the math binder and the other describing home nuggets.

Finally, I would ask that parents and students alike pay special attention to the fact that there are three home nugget categories. Tonight's lesson falls into the exploration category meaning that students are absolutely NOT REQUIRED to submit a lesson that must have correct solutions. The lesson is simply intended to stretch their thinking, get them to practice demonstrating their thought processes and to introduce the content of this particular book. They can get full credit for the lesson (a 4 out of 4) if they follow the FCAs for the assignment.
