ATTENTION!
You will notice that the numbering system for home nuggets has recently started over again, ushering in the fifth and final marking term which officially begins on Monday May 7, 2007.
Students completed their first classwork assignment of the fifth term today and learned that it was based almost entirely on their ability to think and work through home nugget #1, meaning that the correlation between successful completion of home nuggets and successful assessment results is getting even stronger.
Also, students and parents should be aware that while the grading rubric for the fifth marking term will be relatively consistent with other marking terms, I am adding an element called HOME NUGGET AMPLIFICATION. At the end of each week, I will award students who have turned in 100% of their home nuggets a 2% increase to take effect on their OVERALL GRADE! Those students who miss even one lesson a week will have 2% deducted from their OVERALL GRADE.
What does this mean mathematically? The student who consistently completes and hands in quality home nuggets will benefit in both the home nugget category (20%) of the term grade and benefit in respect to the overall grade as well. Conversely, the student who chooses to be inconsistent in regards to home nuggets suffers in both categories. In this way, the effect of the home nugget is amplified, hence the name home nugget amplification.
And now, this weekend's assignment!
