Today's class discussion led us to think about exponential decay; scenarios or situations where values are decreasing by a specific factor. For instance, you begin with a whole pizza and cut it into halves. You then take each half and further divide it in halves, leaving with fourths. Here is what the sequence of values looks like: 1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 and so on. Students naturally set about trying to write equations to help predict any value in the sequence.
