Summary
Students were involved in a cooperative forum today used to identify what skills or themes they are comfortable with and others they see a need for further exploration with. All topics were related to the first and second investigation of Looking for Pythagoras.
Overall, students agreed that they were comfortable with the following themes (they fell into the KNOW column in a table we created)
- how to find vertical/horizontal distances without a graph
- how to find the slope of a graphed line
- how to find the missing vertices of an upright square
- how to find areas and side lengths of upright squares
The following topics were skills students wanted further clarification on (therefore tomorrow's lesson will focus primarily on these ideas)
- how to find vertices of tilted squares
- how to find areas of tilted squares
- how to define a non-square rectangle
Tonight's Home Nugget is a great opportunity to explore some of the aforementioned themes in addition to new ideas.
