Students were given the option of working in pairs or individually on Test #1 of the 2nd term today. The test was comprised of 10 multiple-choice questions, each worth 10 points. The test criteria required that students either clearly show math evidence of the work they did to find solutions or give an appropriate explanation.
The test is one given by the math department to 8th graders across the city and is known as a math module. These tests are aligned with our curriculum, the state standards and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) standards. The idea is that the assessment is comprehensive and balanced.
